The Georgetown Chamber was formed in 1979 to serve the business community in Georgetown and surrounding areas. Over that time we have grown and highlighted our Town that is 16 miles from anywhere in Sussex County. We have a rich history dating back to the early 1600’s with Return Day (an event that started as a way to bring people together to hear election results) this has now blossomed into a uniquely popular event that happens every 2 years with a parade, ox roast, vendors, entertainment and culminating in the “burying of the hatchet” by both parties. Georgetown is also home to Wings & Wheels, an annual event that showcases military history with a family friendly festival held at the Delaware Coastal Airport. Celebrating our Diversity, Georgetown is also Home of the annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Richard Allen School and The Annual Hispanic Festival on Race Street. There is also so much other history with the Marvel Museum, Historic Train Station, Treasures by the Sea and the Delaware Aviation Museum.
The Georgetown Chamber welcomes all businesses, regular business, non-profits, home based and more. We strive to connect our businesses with the community we serve, after all it’s that connection that helps businesses grow and prosper. As Georgetown grows through our sports complexes, businesses will continue to pick Georgetown as a destination for their businesses. A new family court with a parking garage is on the horizon as are 2 WAWA’s, a Dairy Queen and new housing development. We have multi-cultural restaurants and festivals that honor and highlight our diversity. The Chamber works well with the Town of Georgetown and together put on an Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Parade. We are a small diverse town with a beautiful circle at its heart.
