Dover, Delaware - Bayhealth is hosting weekly Al-Anon and Alateen support group meetings at Bayhealth Kent General.
Al-Anon and Alateen are free and open to anybody who has a friend or family member suffering from alcoholism. The group provides fellowship and support, and helps members learn from other members who share similar experiences. Al-Anon and Alateen also provide insight on the '12 steps' of Alcoholics Anonymous to ending alcohol and substance abuse. Alateen focuses on young people, ages 13 to 19, who are impacted by a family member's abuse of alcohol.
Bayhealth Nurse Retires After 43 Years of Service
Dover, Delaware - Bayhealth leaders joined with friends and peers to honor Stephany Wescott, RN, who retired after 43 years as a nurse at Bayhealth Milford Memorial.
Wescott began her career at Milford Memorial Hospital on October 28, 1968, in the medical-surgical unit of the "old first floor." When the new wing of Milford Memorial was opened, Wescott moved upstairs to the 3 East Medical-Surgical Unit and eventually to the 2 West Medical-Surgical Unit. Milford, Delaware - To help meet a growing need for obstetrical and gynecological providers in Sussex County, Bayhealth has recruited a new OB/GYN for the medical staff of Bayhealth Milford Memorial.
Cristian Andronic, MD, joins Bayhealth Women's Care Associates, serving patients of the greater Milford area.
"Recent studies have shown that Kent and Sussex Counties are the most underserved in OB/GYN practice sites. Recruiting a top specialist to our area ensures women will have access to quality care close to home," said Bayhealth Medical Group Administrative Director of Physician Services Andrea Cameron.
Dover, Delaware - Bayhealth has announced the first three winners of the Ken Robertson Assistance Fund. Bayhealth Nursing Assistants Garrie Camp, Ruthie Brown, and Shannon Faulkner will each receive a $500 award to be used for their nursing school expenses.
The award is made possible by a generous donation from Dover resident Ken Robertson, a former patient who received care at Bayhealth - Kent General, where he developed a special appreciation for the nursing assistants who helped him recover. The Ken Robertson Assistance Fund provides three $500 awards each year for Bayhealth nursing assistants who are enrolled in an RN nursing program.
Delaware Hospice's Camp New Hope will be held for the 22nd year to help children and teens learn to cope with the loss of a loved one. Camp New Hope's 4-day camp takes place at Lums Pond in June, Trap Pond in July, and Killens Pond in August. New Hope is offered at no charge to the community, thanks to the support of donors and volunteers.
This year, Delaware Hospice was honored with a special volunteer effort put forth by Caesar Rodney High School students.
The theme of this year's Camp New Hope is "The Amazing Voyage," and the Camp needed a ship. Caesar Rodney's Technology Student Association volunteered to take on the project.
